A Beautiful Fall Day

This is what Fall is all about! Enjoying playing in the leaves, feeling the breeze in your hair, warm enough not to need a coat, the colors of the leaves; red, orange, yellow, and green, and watching your babies get dirty at the park!

Sweet Amelia on the swing.

Sidney watching the leaves fall on her face. She never gets tired of this game!

It looks like Fall, but feels like Summer in Indiana!

There is something about October that I just love. I don't know if it is how the leaves change into the most beautiful color of orange, or the foods of Fall; like caramel apples and pumpkin bread, or if it reminds me to slow down and spend time with my family.

Today we went to Huber's Orchard and Vineyard, in Starlight , IN. We started out with a little trip to the pumpkin patch, then on to the petting zoo, and kiddie zone.

It is very hard to get into the "Fall Mood" when it's 86 degrees outside. I can't remember a Halloween when I wasn't freezing when we were finished trick-or-treating. But we had a great time anyway.

I annoyed my family captured the moments of today with my new camera that I received as my Birthday/Anniversary/Christmas/Columbus Day/New Year's present. I have been eyeing this new DSLR Canon for a while, and when my old camera finally died last month- I had a reason to get it! Now. I. have. to learn. how. to. use. it. Sigh....

I read the entire manual last night and I am feeling totally overwhelmed with camera jargon.

But, today I took her out for a spin and she surprised me. I remembered some a minute amount of the things I read last night and came out with a few gems of the day.

These pictures are my favorites. My husband calls them my "out of focus" pictures. But I LOVE THEM! And I am proud of my first attempt with manually adjusting an aperture and shutter speed.

But I have much much much more to learn.

Welcome to Cookies in my Crinoline!

For all of you not from the South, you may ask "What in the world is a Crinoline?" Well, a crinoline is defined as: several layers of stiff netting, meant to extend the volume of a skirt. Here in the Corbin house these are VERY popular.

You see, I have a five year old little girl that thinks everyday should be a formal occasion. The first few weeks of Kindergarten it was a fight to put pants on the child. Tears would be flying all because pants are more suitable for school than dresses. EVERYDAY!!!

So, any excuse to dress up becomes a reason to wear a frilly dress with as much fluff as possible. Sweet, I have to admit.

One afternoon after church we head to our favorite local restaurant. And as we are finishing up our dessert my 3 year old (at the time) looks down and says "Mommy, I have cookies in my crinoline!" I couldn't help but to smile and think that really sums up my life.

I am a SAHM (Stay at Home Mommy), with 2 beautiful little girls, girls that love to be frilly and silly, but are adventurous to not care when they are dirty.

And at that moment 2 years ago I thought if I ever write a book or start a blog that is what I will name it. So, welcome to "Cookies in my Crinoline".
